Enclosure, Farragh, Co. Mayo

In the townland of Farragh, in County Mayo, there is a structure recorded simply as an enclosure.

That category, deliberately broad, covers a wide range of features in the Irish archaeological landscape, from early medieval ringforts, which were circular earthen or stone enclosures used as farmsteads, to prehistoric ritual sites and later field boundaries repurposed over generations. The label itself tells you almost nothing, which is part of what makes it interesting. Something was here, or remains here, significant enough to be formally recorded, yet sparse enough in its documentation that its character and date are not yet publicly confirmed.
