Enclosures
In the townland of Knappagh More in County Sligo, there survives an archaeological enclosure whose details remain, for now, almost entirely unrecorded in any publicly accessible form.
Enclosures of this kind, defined broadly as areas bounded by earthen banks, ditches, stone walls, or some combination of these, appear across Ireland in enormous variety. They may be prehistoric ringforts, early medieval farmsteads, ceremonial sites, or something harder to categorise. Without further detail, Knappagh More's example sits in that quietly numerous category of monuments that have been noted, mapped, and given a record number, but whose particular character, dimensions, and condition have not yet been made widely available.
