A roughly circular embanked enclosure, about 20 metres across, was recorded on the Ordnance Survey six-inch map of 1838, drawn with enough confidence to suggest it was a visible, legible feature at the time. By the later map editions, it had vanished from the cartographic record entirely, and today there is no trace of it at ground level whatsoever. It is, in a quiet way, a site defined by its own absence.

The enclosure sat on top of a small but prominent east-west ridge, positioned to command good views of the surrounding area. This kind of elevated, embanked enclosure is a recurring form in the Irish archaeological landscape, sometimes associated with early medieval settlement, sometimes with earlier prehistoric activity, though without excavation it is rarely possible to say which. What can be said is that by the time the first surveyors arrived in the 1830s, whatever this feature once was, it was already reduced enough that later generations either could not find it or did not consider it worth marking. The ridge itself has since been squeezed further by infrastructure: a railway line cuts across its northern side and a road borders it to the south. The ground above is now planted with pine trees, which both obscure the surface and, over time, disturb the very soil layers that might otherwise preserve some faint earthwork trace.
