The enclosure measures roughly eighteen and a half metres across, just wide enough to feel deliberate, just small enough to feel intimate. A gap three metres wide in the northern wall served as an entrance of sorts, marked on its western side by a single large boulder, the kind of placement that suggests intention rather than accident. Immediately east of that gap, the bank has been cut through by a shallow oval pit, adding a further layer of quiet ambiguity to a structure that does not easily announce its purpose.

Circular enclosures of this kind appear throughout Ireland and range widely in date and function. Some are the remains of early medieval ringforts, the most common surviving monument type in the Irish landscape, which served as farmsteads enclosed for security. Others are earlier, connected to Bronze Age or Iron Age activity, and some remain genuinely difficult to classify without excavation. This particular example sits on a level terrace of the hill known as Red Hill, a name recorded on the 1913 Ordnance Survey six-inch map, and its interior slopes gently eastward in step with the natural ground. What complicates any simple reading of the site is its surroundings: the remnants of an associated field system survive close by, and a graveyard lies roughly sixty metres to the northwest. That combination, an enclosure, traces of organised field boundaries, and a burial ground in close proximity, hints at a landscape that was used and reused across a long span of time, each generation leaving its own faint mark on the hillside.
