On a small hill rising from the boglands of County Donegal stands an ancient stone, nearly two metres tall, surrounded by a remarkable complex of buried walls and enclosures.

This standing stone marks the centre of what appears to be an extensive prehistoric field system, much of which lies hidden beneath the peat. The site sits roughly 400 metres east of Knockergrana Court tomb and 250 metres from a cup-marked boulder, suggesting this area held considerable significance for ancient communities.

The complex divides into distinct sections, separated by a modern field boundary that likely robbed stone from the earlier structures. South of this modern wall, a series of small field enclosures emerges from the bog, revealed through probing and visible in turf cuttings where the peat thins out. Two small oval cairns, measuring 6m by 4m and 8m by 3m respectively, accompany these fields, whilst a larger semicircular arrangement of stones, approximately 32 metres in diameter, straddles the boundary line. North of the dividing wall, the archaeology becomes even more intriguing; three additional standing stones form a rough north-south alignment west of the main stone, whilst a large circular enclosure, 35 metres across, dominates the area. This enclosure features an internal wall that divides it into eastern and western sections, with smaller sub-circular structures tucked against its northern edge.

The entire complex extends further north across the hill, where additional field walls and a rectangular foundation emerge from the rough, boggy terrain. Centuries of turf cutting have obscured the full extent and relationships between these features, making it impossible to determine whether all elements date to the same period or represent different phases of activity. What remains clear is that this hillside once supported a substantial agricultural or ritual landscape, its stone boundaries and monuments now partially reclaimed by the bog that both preserves and conceals them.
