Burial Grounds
A small graveyard sits roughly thirty metres to the south-west of the church at Cargin in County Galway, close enough to its older neighbour that the two feel like parts of a single place, yet distinct in age and character.
Unlike many Irish burial grounds, which carry centuries of layered use and the worn inscriptions of earlier generations, this one belongs firmly to the twentieth century, a relatively recent addition to a landscape where churchyard burial has deep roots.
