House - early medieval, Killeennashask, Co. Mayo

House
In the townland of Killeennashask in County Mayo, the remains of an early medieval house sit largely unrecorded in the public domain.
That alone makes it curious. Ireland's early medieval period, running roughly from the fifth to the twelfth century, has left behind thousands of traces across the landscape, from ringforts and souterrains to church sites and field systems, yet individual domestic structures from those centuries are comparatively rare as classified monuments. A house, rather than a fortification or a burial site, points toward the texture of ordinary life: the layout of a family's shelter, the orientation of a doorway, the choice of a particular patch of ground.
