The structure sits roughly at the centre of the enclosure, its presence now reduced to low, turf-covered wall footings, nowhere taller than 0.4 metres and varying in width between 0.8 and 2.2 metres. The interior of the house measured approximately 9.5 metres north to south and 7.4 metres east to west, which gives a reasonable sense of its scale even if almost nothing of it survives above ground level. A cashel, for those unfamiliar with the term, is a stone-walled enclosure of early medieval Irish origin, typically circular but occasionally rectangular as here, used to protect a dwelling and its associated farm buildings.

What makes this particular house site quietly compelling is the faint logic still readable in the landscape. The doorway is believed to have faced east, a common orientation in early Irish vernacular building, and a raised, grass-covered pathway still traces a line from where the door would have been towards a possible stone-lined entrance in the cashel's eastern wall. That connection, between the interior of the house and the outer world beyond the enclosure, survives as a slight ridge in the ground, enough to suggest the daily routines of whoever lived here. A second structure is also visible against the western wall of the cashel, hinting that this was a small but organised settlement within its enclosure rather than a single isolated building. The date of the house remains indeterminate; no firm chronological evidence has been recorded, which is itself a common situation for sites of this kind in the Irish midlands and west.
