They cut down into the upslope at the south by roughly twenty centimetres and built up the ground at the north by about thirty centimetres, creating a flat surface inside a circular drystone wall. The result was a dwelling space just over five metres across, small by any measure but evidently considered worth the effort of careful construction on rough, peaty hill pasture.

What remains today is fragmentary but legible. The circular hut, a simple form of drystonebuilt shelter found across Ireland from the early medieval period onward, survives as a partial arc of collapsed walling running from the northwest to the southwest. Drystone construction relies on no mortar, the stones being carefully fitted against one another, which means walls tend to spread and collapse outward over time rather than standing in ruin. Here the wall, roughly seventy centimetres thick and now only about forty centimetres high, is partially swallowed by gorse, and its base stones protrude from the surrounding peat. The southwestern to northwestern arc has disappeared entirely, perhaps robbed for later building or simply lost to the bog. Around the site, traces of older field boundary walls run through the surrounding landscape, suggesting this was once part of a more extensive pattern of land use rather than an isolated structure. A cairn, a mound of stones that may mark a burial or serve as a landscape monument of some kind, sits roughly eighty metres to the northwest, hinting at a longer history of human activity on this hillside.
