The one under consideration here is modest to the point of near-invisibility: a roughly circular stone wall, now largely swallowed by rush and peat, enclosing an interior just 2.1 metres across. That is barely large enough to lie down in. Yet the care taken in its construction is apparent in one telling detail: the floor was deliberately cut into the hillside to a depth of about 35 centimetres on the uphill, north-west side, levelling out the interior against the natural slope. Someone built this with intention.

The wall itself survives to around half a metre in height and is most clearly visible along its south-west to south-east arc, where larger stones break the surface of the bog. Its full circuit is otherwise obscured by vegetation, a common fate for structures of this kind on Irish uplands where blanket bog has slowly accumulated over centuries. Hut sites of this general type are difficult to date precisely without excavation, and the historical record offers no names or events to attach to this particular spot. What is clear is that the three sites, spaced only a handful of metres apart, were almost certainly used together, suggesting a small cluster of seasonal or temporary occupation rather than a single isolated shelter. Transhumance, the practice of moving livestock to upland pastures in summer, produced exactly these kinds of loosely grouped booley huts across Ireland, though the term cannot be applied here with certainty.
