The structure measures roughly two metres east to west, with a curving drystone wall, built without mortar in the traditional manner, still standing to around 0.6 metres in height. What makes it particularly interesting is how pragmatically it was put together: the builder used an outcropping of natural rock at the eastern end as part of the curved wall itself, and the straight western side is not a purpose-built wall at all, but a relict boundary from the surrounding field system. A single upright boulder face closes the southern end of that straight section. The whole thing speaks to a kind of opportunistic construction, using whatever the land already offered.

The hut sits within a wider field system, and roughly ten metres to the south lies a separate enclosure, suggesting this was once part of a more extensive pattern of land use and occupation. Hut sites of this kind, small and roughly circular or D-shaped, are found across Kerry and the broader Irish uplands, and are often associated with seasonal agricultural activity, perhaps the sheltering of a person tending livestock on marginal ground, though they can also represent more permanent occupation depending on the period. Dating such structures without excavation is difficult, but their association with field systems generally points toward early medieval or later prehistoric use. The reliance on existing landscape features, both the boulder and the field wall, rather than independent construction, is characteristic of the more modest end of the settlement record.
