Settlement Sites
In the townland of Grange, in the shadow of Benbulben's limestone plateau in County Sligo, a hut site sits in the archaeological record, largely unannounced.
Hut sites, as a category, cover a broad range of remains, from the scooped-out platforms of early medieval pastoral shelters to the stone footings of seasonal booley huts used by communities who moved their livestock to upland grazing in summer. What exactly this particular site represents, whether a permanent dwelling, a temporary refuge, or something older, is not currently in the public domain.
