Settlement Sites
In the townland of Kilmore in County Kerry, a hut site sits on the landscape, recorded but largely undescribed.
These small, circular or oval stone structures are among the most quietly persistent features of the Irish countryside, the remains of simple shelters used variously by farmers, herders moving cattle to summer pastures, or earlier inhabitants whose daily lives left little behind except the outline of a wall pressed into the ground. What exactly this one represents, and when it was occupied, remains formally undocumented in the public record.
