Settlement Sites
On the western fringe of Connemara, in the townland of Lettergesh, a hut site sits quietly in a landscape more often associated with sandy beaches and the broad sweep of Killary Harbour.
Hut sites of this kind, typically the remains of simple stone or earthen shelters used for seasonal or permanent habitation, are scattered across the west of Ireland, and most pass without much notice. This one is no exception, recorded as a monument but largely undocumented in the public domain.
