The two hut sites in Tiduff occupy the same ground as companions, each ringed by a wall of dry stone, each resolving to roughly the same dimensions: this one measures 6.4 metres north to south and 6.5 metres east to west externally, with an enclosing wall approximately 1.2 metres wide. That wall thickness is worth pausing on. At over a metre wide, it suggests something built for permanence and insulation rather than a temporary shelter, the kind of construction associated with early medieval or prehistoric settlement where the wall itself was as much a feature of the structure as what it enclosed.

Hut sites of this circular, stone-walled type appear across Kerry and the wider Irish Atlantic seaboard, often in clusters, sometimes on marginal land that was more habitable in earlier centuries than it is today. The proximity of this example to its near-identical neighbour, separated by just seven metres, raises quiet questions about who built them and whether they were in use simultaneously, perhaps by a small farming household, or at different periods entirely.
