Megalithic Tombs
In the townland of Graigue in County Sligo, there is a megalithic structure that has so far escaped the kind of documentation that brings ancient sites into wider public awareness.
Sligo is not short of prehistoric monuments; the county contains some of the most significant Neolithic landscapes in Ireland, from the passage tomb complex at Carrowmore to the great cairn of Knocknarea. The presence of another megalithic structure in this corner of the county is therefore not surprising in itself, but the fact that so little has been formally recorded about it means it occupies an unusual position, known to archaeology but largely unknown to anyone else.
