Forts
Along the rugged coastline of County Donegal sits Linsfort promontory fort, a defensive structure that once commanded sweeping views of the Atlantic.
These coastal fortifications were built by taking advantage of natural cliff formations, with defensive banks and ditches cutting across the narrow neck of land that connected the promontory to the mainland. The result was an easily defendable position that required minimal construction whilst maximising the protection offered by sheer drops on three sides.
