Not every site with a place on the archaeological record turns out to be what it was once thought to be.
At Coolagh in County Cork, a feature logged as a quarry in 1988 and again in 1998 has since been found wanting: the evidence, when examined more closely, does not hold up sufficiently to confirm any archaeological monument here at all. It is a site defined, in a sense, by what cannot be said about it.
