Ringforts are among the most common archaeological monuments in Ireland, yet each one carries its own degree of damage, survival, and quiet peculiarity. This one sits on a gentle rise in well-drained grassland, with open views stretching to the south and west, the kind of position that made practical sense to whoever chose it.

The enclosure is roughly circular, measuring approximately 42 metres north to south and 46 metres east to west. It is defined by an earthen bank, now poorly preserved, with a wide shallow fosse, or ditch, running around its outer edge. A fosse of this kind was a standard feature of such enclosures, the upcast soil from its digging used to raise the bank above. The bank survives in places but has suffered considerably over time; there are several disturbance gaps around its circuit, and a section at the north-north-east has been quarried away. The interior slopes gently from north to south, and the south-south-west has also been disturbed by quarrying. Scattered shallow depressions across the interior are of uncertain origin, most likely the product of the same quarrying activity. An entrance gap survives at the south-west. A modern field fence cuts across the monument from north to south, a reminder that agricultural routines have not always worked around what lies beneath them.
