What makes it worth a closer look is the slow evidence of change written into its fabric, a structure that has been trimmed, crossed, and partly dismantled over the centuries, yet still holds its essential shape.

The ringfort, a type of enclosed farmstead common across early medieval Ireland, takes the form of an oval roughly 32 metres north to south and 24 metres east to west. It is defined by a low earthen bank, just over a metre high on its outer face, and a shallow fosse, the ditch that once reinforced the enclosure's boundary. Stone is mixed heavily into the bank's composition, suggesting either deliberate construction with rubble or material robbed in from elsewhere over time. The interior is unevenly pitted, most likely the result of trees being uprooted at some point, leaving hollows that have never fully settled. A steep ramp at the eastern side appears to serve as an entrance, though this feature is considered likely to be a modern addition rather than an original threshold. The Ordnance Survey six-inch map of 1839 records a field boundary running east to west across the southern part of the enclosure, evidence that agricultural reorganisation had already cut across the older monument. By the 1900 revision of that same map, a field bank to the south of that boundary had disappeared entirely, levelled at some point in the intervening six decades. The fort sits on a gentle terrace above a flood plain, with open views to the north and south, a position that would have offered reasonable surveillance of the surrounding landscape to whoever once managed this small, enclosed world.
