Locally it goes by the name 'liss', the Irish term for a ringfort, those circular or oval earthwork enclosures built during the early medieval period, roughly between the fifth and twelfth centuries, as defended farmsteads for a single family and their livestock. This one survives as a roughly oval platform, measuring approximately 21.8 metres northwest to southeast and 19.5 metres northeast to southwest, and it is so densely covered in vegetation that its true shape is difficult to read at ground level.

The site bears the marks of centuries of agricultural life pressing in around it. A field wall meets it at the northwest, a farm track skirts its southeastern edge, and rubble from field clearance has been dumped in its southwestern quadrant, pulling the outline further out of true. Inside, a section of rock outcrop breaks the surface, and local tradition holds that a souterrain lies beneath, a souterrain being an underground stone-lined passage, typically built as a place of refuge or storage and commonly found associated with ringforts across Ireland. Whether that underground feature survives intact, or has been compressed and damaged by the weight of accumulated debris, is not recorded.

The combination of missing cartographic record, distorted earthwork, and an unverified souterrain gives this small enclosure an air of quiet incompleteness. It is the kind of site that rewards patience and a good eye for subtle ground variation rather than any dramatic revelation, a low platform in a field, half-buried beneath bramble and grass, with something possibly hollow beneath its rocky interior.
