A circular enclosure, of the type commonly known as a rath, a raised earthwork built for early medieval settlement and farmstead enclosure, was recorded on the Ordnance Survey maps of 1841 to 1842. By the time the later OS edition was produced, it had vanished from the cartography entirely. No surface trace survives on the ground today.

The site sits immediately north-west of a second rath, still catalogued under its own reference, making Guhard a place that once held at least two such enclosures in close proximity. Ringforts are among the most common archaeological monument types in Ireland, with tens of thousands known, many of them dating to the early medieval period between roughly the fifth and twelfth centuries. That two should stand near one another is not extraordinary in itself; clusters of raths sometimes reflect family groupings or successive generations farming the same land. What is unusual here is the paper trail left by the lost one. The mid-nineteenth century OS mapping was meticulous enough to capture it, yet something, most likely agricultural clearance or land improvement in the intervening decades, erased whatever earthworks remained above ground. C. Toal's North Kerry Archaeological Survey, published in 1995, is the source that brought this absence back into the record.

There is, in a sense, nothing to see at this particular spot. The coordinates exist, the neighbouring rath persists, but the enclosure itself survives only as a mark on an old map and a line in a county survey, a monument defined entirely by its disappearance.
