Sheepfold, Fenit Within, Co. Kerry

Farm Buildings
Near Fenit on the Kerry coast, a modest stone structure sat for years in an administrative grey zone, catalogued under the cautious label of "possible enclosure" without anyone being entirely sure what it was.
That uncertainty is less surprising than it sounds. Ireland's landscape is full of old stone features, and distinguishing a sheepfold from an early medieval enclosure, a field boundary remnant, or something older still can require more than a map and a measured guess.
