Standing stone, Tullaghan, Co. Sligo

At Tullaghan in County Sligo, local people once knew a large upright stone simply as the Altar.

It stood roughly four metres west of a holy well, close enough to suggest a deliberate pairing of the two features, and its popular name implies that the community saw it as something more than an incidental rock. Today, there are no visible remains of it whatsoever.
