No entrance survives, no ditch, no trace of internal structures; just a quiet oval of stone bank sitting in the landscape, its outline still legible after more than a thousand years.

The site is classed as a cashel, the term used for a ringfort defined by a stone wall rather than an earthen bank or ditch. Cashels are most closely associated with the west of Ireland, where stone was plentiful, but they appear wherever building material was at hand. This one measures roughly 26.6 metres from northwest to southeast and around 17 metres across the shorter axis, placing it in the modest but functional range typical of early medieval farmstead enclosures. The surrounding bank reaches a maximum width of 2.5 metres and survives to between 0.2 and 1.3 metres in height, which is unspectacular but enough to confirm that it was once a substantial structure. What distinguishes it slightly is the near-vertical drystone facing that remains visible on the western and northeastern sections, drystone being a construction method where stones are laid without mortar, relying entirely on careful fitting for stability. That the facing has held its near-vertical line at all, given the exposed upland setting and the centuries elapsed, is quietly notable.
