Among the rest, the most common occupations were shopkeeper / shop assistant / dealer (6.9%), farm labourer (5.6%), metal worker / engineer (5.6%) and carpenter / joiner (2.8%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 8.3% of all Beggs, followed by retail & commerce, metal & engineering and domestic service.

Beggs were predominantly Roman Catholic (77.8%). The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (11.1%), Anglican (6.9%) and Congregationalist (2.8%).
