The average Blemings in 1911 was 21.9 years old, 16.4 for men and 29.7 for women; noticeably younger than the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.

Of the Blemingses whose literacy was recorded, 74.5% could both read and write, 2% could read but not write, and 23.5% could do neither. Women came out slightly ahead, 76.2% reading and writing against 73.3% of men. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common entry on a Blemings's census form was "Scholar"; 34% (18) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farm labourer (11.3%), domestic servant (5.7%), farmer (3.8%) and textile worker (3.8%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 15.1% of all Blemingses, followed by domestic service, textiles & clothing and clerical & administration.
What religion is Blemings?
Blemingses were overwhelmingly Anglican, 98.1% of them. The remainder were mostly Plymouth Brethren (1.9%).
