That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.

Of the Cleins whose literacy was recorded, 75% could both read and write, 4.2% could read but not write, and 20.8% could do neither. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were David (2), Lewis, Abraham, Arthur and Benjamin. For women it was Annie (3), followed by Bertha, Bessie, Sarah and Esther.
Clein occupations in 1911
The most common entry on a Clein's census form was "Scholar"; 45.3% (24) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were shopkeeper / shop assistant / dealer (11.3%), clerk / office worker (3.8%), agent / manager (1.9%) and domestic servant (1.9%). Grouped by sector, retail & commerce accounted for 13.2% of all Cleins, followed by clerical & administration, domestic service and metal & engineering.
What religion is Clein?
Cleins were predominantly Jewish (88.7%). The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (1.9%).
