Dublin was Condell country: 27% of them (50 people) lived there in 1911. Next came Carlow (33), Wicklow (26), Antrim (19) and Monaghan (15).

The average Condell in 1911 was 30.0 years old, 29.6 for men and 30.3 for women; almost exactly in line with the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.
Condell literacy in 1911
Of the Condells whose literacy was recorded, 87.2% could both read and write, 4.7% could read but not write, and 7.6% could do neither. Women came out slightly ahead, 88.7% reading and writing against 85.3% of men. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were William (15), Thomas, John, Robert and Joseph. For women it was Mary (8), followed by Jane, Annie, Sarah and Bridget.

The most common entry on a Condell's census form was "Scholar"; 14.6% (27) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (12.4%), carpenter / joiner (3.8%), shopkeeper / shop assistant / dealer (3.8%) and domestic servant (1.6%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 14.6% of all Condells, followed by building & construction, domestic service and retail & commerce.
What religion is Condell?
Condells were predominantly Anglican (73%). The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (19.5%), Methodist (4.3%), Moravian (2.2%) and Presbyterian (0.5%).
