That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.

Of the Cornwalls whose literacy was recorded, 95.8% could both read and write, 0% could read but not write, and 4.2% could do neither. Women came out slightly ahead, 97.4% reading and writing against 93.9% of men. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were John (5), James, George, William and Alfred. For women it was Catherine (2), followed by Emily, Kathleen, Agnes and Alice Aleshia.

The most common occupation among Cornwalls was farmer, 19.2% of them (14 people). Next came scholar / student (16.4%), clerk / office worker (6.8%), domestic servant (6.8%) and shopkeeper / shop assistant / dealer (4.1%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 20.5% of all Cornwalls, followed by domestic service, clerical & administration and retail & commerce.
What religion is Cornwall?
Most Cornwalls, 56.2%, were Anglican. The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (30.1%), Methodist (8.2%) and Presbyterian (5.5%).
