The 1911 Census recorded 3,021 people named Corrigan in Ireland, about 0.069% of everyone living in the country at the time and the 291st most common surname overall. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 1,487 men and 1,531 women. (A small number, 3, had no sex recorded.)

Mayo had the largest share of Corrigans, 12.1% (367 people). Next came Fermanagh (326), Dublin (281), Tyrone (271) and Monaghan (183).

The average Corrigan in 1911 was 29.8 years old, 29.4 for men and 30.1 for women; almost exactly in line with the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common occupation among Corrigans was farmer, 20.4% of them (617 people). Next came scholar / student (18.9%), farm labourer (3.8%), general labourer (3.6%) and domestic servant (2.5%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 24.6% of all Corrigans, followed by domestic service, general labourers and textiles & clothing.
