The 1911 Census recorded 104 people named Cronly in Ireland; roughly one in every 42,000 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 51 men and 53 women.

Of the Cronlys whose literacy was recorded, 85% could both read and write, 4% could read but not write, and 11% could do neither. Men came out slightly ahead, 92% reading and writing against 78% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were John (10), Patrick, Thomas, Henry and Abram. For women it was Mary (9), followed by Margaret, Anne, Annie and Elizabeth.

The most common entry on a Cronly's census form was "Scholar"; 26% (27) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (7.7%), general labourer (6.7%), farm labourer (3.8%) and domestic servant (2.9%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 11.5% of all Cronlys, followed by general labourers, transport and domestic service.

Cronlys were predominantly Roman Catholic (84.6%). The remainder were mostly Anglican (9.6%) and Presbyterian (5.8%).
