The 1911 Census recorded 71 people named Crooke in Ireland; roughly one in every 62,000 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 35 men and 35 women. (A small number, 1, had no sex recorded.)

Men came out slightly ahead, 84.8% reading and writing against 75.8% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were John (6), Thomas, William, Robert and Hugh. For women it was Bridget (3), followed by Esther, Kate, Margaret and Margaret Jane.

Next came scholar / student (18.3%), no occupation / dependent (7%), domestic servant (2.8%) and sailor / dock worker (2.8%).
