Of the Darraghs whose literacy was recorded, 78.1% could both read and write, 5.3% could read but not write, and 16.5% could do neither. Men came out slightly ahead, 81% reading and writing against 75.6% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (9.7%), textile worker (6.3%), general labourer (5.7%) and farm labourer (3.6%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 13.4% of all Darraghs, followed by textiles & clothing, general labourers and domestic service.
What religion is Darragh?
The largest religious group among Darraghs was Roman Catholic, at 48.1%. The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (29.5%), Anglican (13.7%), Methodist (4.6%) and Baptist (2.3%).
