Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (19.3%), general labourer (2.4%), knitter / lace worker (2.1%) and domestic servant (1.6%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 21.6% of all Deanes, followed by textiles & clothing, general labourers and domestic service.

Most Deanes, 59.7%, were Roman Catholic. The remainder were mostly Anglican (31.3%), Presbyterian (4.2%) and Methodist (3.5%).
