Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (19.2%), textile worker (3%), domestic servant (2%) and farm labourer (2%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 21.2% of all Delaps, followed by textiles & clothing, domestic service and retail & commerce.
What religion is Delap?
Most Delaps, 63.6%, were Roman Catholic. The remainder were mostly Anglican (24.2%) and Presbyterian (12.1%).
