Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (14.1%), carter / driver / groom (2.8%), domestic servant (2.8%) and farm labourer (2.8%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 16.9% of all Dewarts, followed by textiles & clothing, domestic service and professional.

Most Dewarts, 50.7%, were Presbyterian. The remainder were mostly Anglican (39.4%) and Methodist (9.9%).
