The 1911 Census recorded 403 people named Dore in Ireland; roughly one in every 11,000 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 194 men and 209 women.

The Dores were heavily concentrated in Limerick, home to 72.2% of them (291 people). Next came Kerry (48), Dublin (26), Cork (22) and Cavan (5).

That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 25.8% of all Dores, followed by domestic service, general labourers and professional.

Dores were overwhelmingly Roman Catholic, 99.3% of them. The remainder were mostly Anglican (0.2%).
