The Dorgans were heavily concentrated in Cork, home to 86.3% of them (471 people). Next came Kerry (23), Dublin (21), Carlow (5) and Clare (4).

Dorgans were overwhelmingly Roman Catholic, 99.6% of them. The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (0.2%).
