Women came out slightly ahead, 87.4% reading and writing against 81.9% of men. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were John (8), William, James, Robert and David. For women it was Jane (9), followed by Agnes, Mary, Martha and Eliza.

The most common entry on a Flack's census form was "Scholar"; 17% (34) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (14%), other maker / factory worker (4.5%), textile worker (4.5%) and seamstress (3.5%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 14.5% of all Flacks, followed by textiles & clothing, manufacturing & trades and retail & commerce.
What religion is Flack?
Flacks were predominantly Presbyterian (73.5%). The remainder were mostly Anglican (14%), Methodist (6%), Roman Catholic (3.5%) and Plymouth Brethren (3%).
