The 1911 Census recorded 186 people named Fullam in Ireland; roughly one in every 24,000 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 97 men and 89 women.

The Fullams were heavily concentrated in Dublin, home to 54.8% of them (102 people). Next came Kildare (34), Longford (17), Westmeath (11) and Meath (10).

The average Fullam in 1911 was 29.2 years old, 28.9 for men and 29.6 for women; almost exactly in line with the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.
Fullam literacy in 1911
Of the Fullams whose literacy was recorded, 85.7% could both read and write, 6.9% could read but not write, and 7.4% could do neither. The figures were much the same for men and women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.
Fullam common first names
The most common male names were Thomas (14), Patrick, John, James and Christopher. For women it was Mary (16), followed by Bridget, Anne, Elizabeth and Mary Anne.

The most common entry on a Fullam's census form was "Scholar"; 22% (41) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (10.2%), general labourer (7.5%), other maker / factory worker (2.2%) and shopkeeper / shop assistant / dealer (2.2%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 11.8% of all Fullams, followed by general labourers, retail & commerce and building & construction.
What religion is Fullam?
Fullams were overwhelmingly Roman Catholic, 97.8% of them. The remainder were mostly Anglican (2.2%).
