The 1911 Census recorded 78 people named Hague in Ireland; roughly one in every 56,000 people carried the name. There were noticeably more men than women recorded: 43 men to 35 women.

The Hagues were heavily concentrated in Cavan, home to 55.1% of them (43 people). Next came Dublin (10), Antrim (9), Roscommon (4) and Fermanagh (3).

The average Hague in 1911 was 34.7 years old, 37.9 for men and 30.8 for women; noticeably older than the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.
Hague literacy in 1911
Of the Hagues whose literacy was recorded, 85.7% could both read and write, 3.9% could read but not write, and 9.1% could do neither. The figures were much the same for men and women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were John (8), James, William, Hugh and Robert. For women it was Elizabeth (4), followed by Mary, Catherine, Eliza and Mary A.

The most common occupation among Hagues was farmer, 23.1% of them (18 people). Next came scholar / student (12.8%), domestic servant (7.7%), general labourer (5.1%) and retired / pensioner (5.1%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 26.9% of all Hagues, followed by domestic service, general labourers and retail & commerce.
What religion is Hague?
Most Hagues, 50%, were Anglican. The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (46.2%) and Baptist (3.8%).
