The 1911 Census recorded 391 people named Harron in Ireland; roughly one in every 11,000 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 180 men and 211 women.

The Harrons were heavily concentrated in Donegal, home to 71.1% of them (278 people). Next came Tyrone (49), Sligo (17), Derry (12) and Antrim (8).

That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.

Of the Harrons whose literacy was recorded, 70.1% could both read and write, 7.1% could read but not write, and 22.8% could do neither. Men came out slightly ahead, 72.4% reading and writing against 68.1% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 28.1% of all Harrons, followed by textiles & clothing, domestic service and building & construction.

Most Harrons, 63.4%, were Anglican. The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (28.1%), Methodist (5.4%) and Presbyterian (1.8%).
