The Hasletts were heavily concentrated in Antrim, home to 52.6% of them (174 people). Next came Down (72), Derry (58), Tyrone (9) and Fermanagh (7).

The average Haslett in 1911 was 28.0 years old, 24.4 for men and 30.8 for women; a touch younger than the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.
Haslett literacy in 1911
Of the Hasletts whose literacy was recorded, 82.1% could both read and write, 3.1% could read but not write, and 14.7% could do neither. Women came out slightly ahead, 83.2% reading and writing against 80.7% of men. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were John (23), James, William, Samuel and Robert. For women it was Mary (17), followed by Jane, Margaret, Elizabeth and Maggie.

The most common entry on a Haslett's census form was "Scholar"; 25.1% (83) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were textile worker (4.8%), farmer (4.5%), farm labourer (3.3%) and other maker / factory worker (3.3%). Grouped by sector, textiles & clothing accounted for 9.1% of all Hasletts, followed by agriculture, manufacturing & trades and retail & commerce.
What religion is Haslett?
Most Hasletts, 64.4%, were Presbyterian. The remainder were mostly Anglican (27.5%), Methodist (3%), Unitarian (0.9%) and Roman Catholic (0.3%).
