The 1911 Census recorded 209 people named Haveron in Ireland; roughly one in every 21,000 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 99 men and 109 women. (A small number, 1, had no sex recorded.)

The Haverons were heavily concentrated in Antrim, home to 92.8% of them (194 people). Next came Tyrone (9), Down (3), Derry (2) and Dublin (1).

The average Haveron in 1911 was 26.5 years old, 26.7 for men and 26.3 for women; noticeably younger than the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.
Haveron literacy in 1911
Of the Haverons whose literacy was recorded, 79.9% could both read and write, 9.8% could read but not write, and 10.3% could do neither. Men came out slightly ahead, 82.6% reading and writing against 77.5% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.
Haveron common first names
The most common male names were James (15), John, William, Samuel and Daniel. For women it was Mary (19), followed by Sarah, Agnes, Annie and Catherine.
Haveron occupations in 1911
The most common entry on a Haveron's census form was "Scholar"; 22.5% (47) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (8.6%), textile worker (8.1%), general labourer (6.7%) and farm labourer (2.4%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 11.5% of all Haverons, followed by textiles & clothing, general labourers and domestic service.
What religion is Haveron?
Most Haverons, 50.7%, were Roman Catholic. The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (23.9%), Anglican (20.1%), Methodist (2.4%) and Unitarian (0.5%).
