Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (19%), farm labourer (4%), general labourer (2.9%) and domestic servant (2.5%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 23.6% of all Hegartys, followed by textiles & clothing, domestic service and general labourers.

Hegartys were overwhelmingly Roman Catholic, 93.5% of them. The remainder were mostly Anglican (4%), Presbyterian (1.4%), Baptist (0.4%) and Congregationalist (0.2%).
