The Heritys were heavily concentrated in Sligo, home to 90% of them (117 people). Next came Dublin (8), Mayo (3) and Donegal (2).

The average Herity in 1911 was 26.3 years old, 24.1 for men and 29.1 for women; noticeably younger than the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.
Herity literacy in 1911
Of the Heritys whose literacy was recorded, 63.6% could both read and write, 5.4% could read but not write, and 31% could do neither. Men came out slightly ahead, 65.3% reading and writing against 61.4% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were John (16), Michael, Martin, Pat and Patrick. For women it was Bridget (14), followed by Mary, Kate, Annie and Catherine.
Herity occupations in 1911
The most common entry on a Herity's census form was "Scholar"; 30.8% (40) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (12.3%), farm labourer (4.6%), fisherman (3.8%) and sailor / dock worker (3.1%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 16.9% of all Heritys, followed by fishing, transport and no occupation / dependent.
