The Jinkses were heavily concentrated in Sligo, home to 78.6% of them (55 people). Next came Antrim (8), Waterford (2), Cork (1) and Dublin (1).

The average Jinks in 1911 was 34.0 years old, 33.2 for men and 35.2 for women; noticeably older than the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.
Jinks literacy in 1911
Of the Jinkses whose literacy was recorded, 78.5% could both read and write, 6.2% could read but not write, and 15.4% could do neither. Women came out slightly ahead, 84.6% reading and writing against 74.4% of men. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were Patrick (6), Michael, Thomas, John and William. For women it was Anne (4), followed by Annie, Bridget, Kate and Maggie.

The most common occupation among Jinkses was farmer, 24.3% of them (17 people). Next came scholar / student (14.3%), farm labourer (4.3%), domestic servant (2.9%) and metal worker / engineer (2.9%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 28.6% of all Jinkses, followed by domestic service, metal & engineering and retail & commerce.
What religion is Jinks?
Jinkses were predominantly Roman Catholic (80%). The remainder were mostly Baptist (11.4%) and Anglican (4.3%).
