The 1911 Census recorded 450 people named Keady in Ireland; roughly one in every 9,800 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 229 men and 221 women.

The Keadys were heavily concentrated in Galway, home to 79.8% of them (359 people). Next came Mayo (47), Dublin (12), Wicklow (10) and Cork (8).

Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common occupation among Keadys was farmer, 30.4% of them (137 people). Next came scholar / student (24.7%), general labourer (3.3%), domestic servant (1.8%) and farm labourer (1.1%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 32% of all Keadys, followed by general labourers, domestic service and public service & defence.

Keadys were overwhelmingly Roman Catholic, 99.6% of them. The remainder were mostly Anglican (0.4%).
