Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Grouped by sector, textiles & clothing accounted for 18.5% of all Keatingses, followed by domestic service, agriculture and general labourers.

Most Keatingses, 53.8%, were Roman Catholic. The remainder were mostly Anglican (27.7%), Presbyterian (12.3%), Methodist (4.6%) and Baptist (1.5%).
